What is Ratio Christi?
RC icon

Ratio Christi is a ministry of Southern Evangelical Seminary (www.ses.edu). We are devoted to two things:
1) To bringing about a renewal of Christian thought within the University. We think that Christians should be the most intelligently engaged people out there. God gave us a mind; let's use it!
2) To giving people a reason (and/or the means of getting the reason) to believe in the factual, historical, philosophical, theological, scientific viability of the Christian faith (1 Peter 3.15). While, at Ratio Christi we have great respect for the work of the secular institutions, we are not blind to the fact that often--sometimes very often--the intellectual integrity of a person's faith is challenged in the classroom.

We think Christianity is rationally feasible, and that it stands up soundly to the ideologies of determinism, relativism, physicalism, etc. All in all, we believe Christianity is true, and we want to help those who have questions and concerns about its intellectual grounding.
National Apologetics Conference

We want to thank everyone that stopped by our booth in early November at the National Apologetics Conference in Charlotte, NC. To do this conference was a great privilege, and we were glad to see the supportive faces of so many individuals. The conversations that we had with so many of you about the need to have Ratio Christi clubs at campuses all across the nation were encouraging.

Thank you to those who showed interest in supporting Ratio Christi on a personal basis over the past several weeks. Since the conference we have received over forty inquiries into working with RC. We are already working with some of you to take RC into secular campuses all across the nation.

All of you that donated financially to the cause are very much appreciated. Because of the way the economy is struggling money can be tight and contributing to a new ministry can be a little concerning. To say the least, we are extremely grateful for your faith and trust.
RC Happenings

Recently there has been interest in Ratio Christi at the following universities:  Wingate University, Elon University, NC State, Ohio State, Otterbein College, Texas A&M, Casper College, CPCC Levine, Rice University, Bethel College, and Columbia College.  If you are interested in participating in some capacity (student, advisor, church, supporter) at these or any other universities please contact us.

While we are working with individuals all across the nation to start up new Ratio Christi chapters, we have been working fervently at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) and the Appalachian State University (ASU) chapters. Brendon Helms has been leading the UNCC branch in a series on the existence of God, covering the wide range of cosmological and teleological arguments to the arguments from morality and so forth.

At ASU, the Ratio Christi chapter has been treading similar ground, though with a concentration on the teleological argument. For the past month they have been asking questions like "What does the Bible say about evolution?" "How are we to read Genesis 1?" "Can we establish a true and working definition of Intelligent Design?"

TBA - Dr. John Herdklotz will be speaking on the conversion of Antony Flew from Atheism to Deism.
Location: ASU - I.G. Greer Room 119
Date: TBA (Check www.ratiochristi.org soon for a date).
Time: 6:30 - 7:30 PM

A new article has been posted: A Compare and Contrast of Freudian and Marxist Theories on Religion by Randy Hardman. If you are interested in Sociology, Psychology, or theories of religious epistemology you may find this essay interesting. To read the essay go to the Resource section of the website.
How can you help?

If you desire to be a part of what Ratio Christi is doing there are several things you can do.

· If you're interested in bring Ratio Christi to your academic institution please contact us by filling out the form at http://www.ratiochristi.org/index_files/contactus.html. We are looking for directors that have experience within the field of apologetics (generally this means at least an M.A. degree acquired or in the works) and students that would be willing to serve as officers for groups.

·  Ratio Christi is also available to do events at churches, high schools, and other similar functions. There are several ways in which we can do this (i.e. one time presentation, weekend seminar, weekly series (local), etc.) We speak on a variety of topics. If you are interested in having us come, e-mail us at info@ratiochristi.org

·  Ratio Christi is always in need of financial support, especially since we are still within the toddler stages as a ministry. If you feel called to donate you can donate online  or send a check to:

Southern Evangelical Seminary
3000 Tilley Morris Road
Matthews, NC 28105
earmark checks to: Ratio Christi

Thank you again for your interest in Ratio Christi. Through your love, prayers, and support we hope that YHWH will use us to bring about a renewal of Christian thinking in the university.
