Allen Hainline graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has also taken some graduate courses at Biola University in the Science and Religion program. Allen worked at Raytheon for about 12 years in software engineering before leaving as an Engineering Fellow in 1999 to be involved in 3D-modeling and algorithm development at a startup company. He currently runs a very small software company engaged in commercial satellite imaging. He has also taught software engineering for Raytheon and for the University of Texas Continuing Engineering Studies. Allen is happily married for 26 years to Rose, and they have 2 sons and 2 daughters. Three of them are currently working on their first or second degree in an engineering or scientific field at secular universities. Allen went through a period of severe doubts and skepticism but after years of researching historical, scientific, archaeological and philosophical evidence concluded that there is more evidence for Christianity than for other religions or for atheism. Allen started an apologetics ministry at UT Dallas 3 years ago which is a chapter of Reasonable Faith. See www.OriginsDiscussion.info for more details. Allen also leads an apologetics ministry at his church, Lakepointe Baptist Church in Rockwall, Texas.
I was raised in a Christian family and so heard the gospel at a young age but I actually remember placing my trust in Christ to forgive my sins at age 8. Even at such a young age I recognized that I was a sinner and in need of forgiveness. I believe that I am saved by grace through faith alone in Christ and have Him as Lord of my life. I went through a period of doubts about 10 years ago and re-examined all of my beliefs and searched out evidence and concluded that my faith was reasonable. I was so blown away by the amount of evidence that I felt compelled to study more and start sharing apologetics with other believers since it is not widely known. About 5 years ago I concluded that God was leading me into apologetics ministry and needed to engage non-believers as well.
