Originally from Southern California, Dr. Curry was raised in a Christian home. After graduating from El Segundo High School, and intending to prepare for a life of pastoral ministry, Curry studied theology in college at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. He then matriculated into Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (now Gateway Seminary) in the San Francisco Bay area, earning a Masters of Divinity, and completed his ministerial education at the Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama, with a Doctor of Ministry.
Curry has ministered in diverse churches in a variety of roles in Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, and now Longview, Washington, where he is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Community Church.
Feeling that all truth is God's truth, Curry enjoys highlighting the connection between the Christian faith and various fields of knowledge such as history, biblical criticism, philosophy, and science. He enjoys presenting the evidence for Christianity to both skeptics and believers alike, so that the former might come to believe and that the latter might grow more confident in the truth of their faith.
I was born to a pair of loving Christian parents. As a child, my parents took me to our family's church where I learned the classic Bible stories and simple doctrines that formed the curriculum of the children's program. It was in that context that I came to understand my need for a savior and God’s great love for me. My teachers thus led me in prayer into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ at a young age and, as I entered middle school, I was baptized in obedience to the command of Christ. As I’ve matured, so has my faith, and I continue to love the Lord.
