James Klopfenstein grew up on a farm near Winfield, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1980. James has enjoyed a career in electronics communications, which has included engineering land mobile/cellular radio systems, Global Positioning Systems and more recently, he has been developing avionics satellite communications (SATCOM) for Rockwell Collins since 1990. He has been married to Sue since 1982. They have raised two daughters who are both married and living in Iowa. James plans to finish his MA in Christian Apologetics from Biola in the fall of 2015. From 1987 to 2007, many eastern Iowans knew James as the man who played the role of Jesus for the popular Easter Passion Play at First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids, which drew a yearly attendance of nearly 10,000.  For the last several years, James and Sue have lead an apologetics home group to prepare young adults to meet the intellectual challenges in defending their Christian faith after they leave the home. James describes the success of the group in an Aplogetics315 blog post, How to Get Apologetics in Your Church Part -2, “An Effective Model for a Youth Apologetics Home Group.”  .http://www.apologetics315.com/2012/08/how-to-get-apologetics-in-your-church-2_23.html . James is excited to be a volunteer for Ratio Christi and to begin working on the University of Iowa campus with Ratio Christi and other campus ministries in order to help students winsomely learn how to answer life’s big questions and make a “defense for the reason for the hope that is within them …” (1 Peter 3:15)
