Bio

Jeremy Scarbrough is an educator of music and humanities, with a love for classical and cultural apologetics. He founded the University of Mississippi's chapter of Ratio Christi, and served as Chapter Director from 2013-2015. A native of Mississippi, Jeremy received his B.A. in Music, with an emphasis in vocal performance, in 2006 from Mississippi State University. Additionally, he holds an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, an M.A. in Theological studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, in Lynchburg, VA, and a Master’s degree in Music Education, from the University of Southern Mississippi. He received a Ph.D. in Music (with an emphasis in philosophy) in 2015, from the University of Mississippi. His philosophical interests lay largely in the greater questions of how ideas concerning truth, beauty, evil, and meaning shape worldviews—thereby influencing cultural trends and ethical interactions. His research interests therefore lay within the area of interdisciplinary studies. In particular, he is interested in an aesthetic philosophy for teaching music appreciation as a dialogue of ethics, worldview studies, and the objectivity of value. Jeremy also performs a variety of musical genres, including rock, folk, vocal jazz, and metal. He is the husband to Abigail and father to Piper Rosalie Scarbrough.
