I grew up in and around Lincoln, Nebraska. I graduated from a Christian high school in 2007 and went on to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 2013. After graduating, I taught music for three years at a Catholic school in Falls City, Nebraska. 2016 was a big year for me. I got married to my wonderful wife Kara, moved to Ashland, Nebraska, and started teaching elementary music in Valley, Nebraska. Between 2015 and 2018, I earned a Master’s of Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Life changes continue in pretty rapid succession as Kara and I moved to Lincoln and are growing our family. In the latter part of 2017, I began my work with Ratio Christi as the Assistant Chapter Director for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
I came to Christ as a younger child. I was being taught the Bible, Bible stories, and biblical principles so I had the truth constantly clacking around in my head. In high school through college – even though I was involved in church on Sundays and Wednesdays – I got distracted during the week and lived my own way. What I needed during those times was a spiritual mentor.
While living on my own I experienced Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons knocking on my door asking questions that I was unequipped to answer. I was driven to pursue a seminary education. During this time a group of godly men came alongside me and asked me the hard questions and the woman who is now my wife also challenged me to live in concert with my convictions.
I attended Bill Hybel’s Global Leadership Summit. There he challenged everyone there with the question “What’s your grander vision?” I sat back and asked myself that question. I was in seminary classes, I loved serving God in youth groups and worship teams, and I had a growing love for apologetics. God lead me to Ratio Christi. Through this ministry I seek to come alongside students and help them keep their focus on Christ Jesus.
