Jay Smith resides in Castle Rock, Colorado with his wife, Tijian. Jay is retired from a 35-year career in the oil and gas industry, closing with a 7-year stint as Chief Operating Officer of Great Western Petroleum in Denver. This work involved exploration and production in numerous petroleum producing regions in the onshore U.S. He received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1985. Since coming to faith in Christ in his early 30s, he has long been interested in the relationship between science and Christian belief.
Jay is a commissioned graduate of the Colson Fellows program and has been the Regional Director of the Colson Fellows Denver Cohort since 2019. The Fellows program promotes the application of a biblical worldview to all spheres of life and faith. He serves as an elder and on the preaching team of a thriving house church in the Castle Rock area. He is also an elected board member of the metro district for his community.
Jay and Tijian have been married for 35 years and have four children (two of them adopted from Ukraine) and five grandchildren. In addition to grandparent duties, they enjoy travel, camping, and the humbling sport of golf.
