Talking About Our Beliefs

It has been such an honor to get to know Chloe over the past two years. Her love for the Lord shines brightly in all that she does. Chloe interacts with others in such a kind and positive way, always uplifting those around her. Her dedication to the club, along with her many other responsibilities, is truly admirable. I cannot wait to see how the Lord continues to work in and through Chloe in the years to come. – Hannah Pankratz (RC Director at Kansas State University)

  • When did you come to Christ as Lord and Savior, and how did that come about?

At VBS in 3rd grade, it had finally been connected to me the reason Jesus needed to come and die, and just how harmful my sins are. On the last day of VBS, I admitted that I was a sinner and that it harmed not only me, but also God. I confessed that to someone, and I believed in my heart that Jesus came and died and rose.

  • In your high school church youth group, how much did you learn about the Christian faith and reasons to believe?

I learned some in high school, but I will say a majority of the conversations were “we believe this because the Bible says so” and nothing more than that. Outside of the youth group, I definitely sought these ideas out.

  • How did you become interested in apologetics, and how did you get involved with Ratio Christi?

I had a lot of conversations through high school that I could not answer people’s questions, and I was eager to be able to know why I believe what i believe. In college, my friend Bethany introduced me to Ratio Christi because she saw my interest in this.

  • What impact has the Ratio Christi College Prep ministry had on your walk with God and your personal ministry?

Ratio Christi has made a beautiful impact on my walk with Christ. I have grown significantly closer to God and I have been able to become better at evangelizing and asking good questions and giving better put together answers to questions from unbelievers!!

  • What is this RC chapter like?

This RC chapter is a lot of fun and exciting when we have meetings; we have people from different walks and denominations/religious groups, and that offers plenty of counter arguments to ideas and topics presented. We will often bring in people of different faiths to have Q&As and that is very beneficial to our understanding recognition of our weaknesses in our beliefs.

  • What were some of your favorite areas of involvement with your local RCCP chapter?

I think my favorite part of RC is when we can get professors into our meetings to come and talk about their beliefs. This is super encouraging because these are people we may see every day, and we can understand a different viewpoint.

  • How do you envision taking the apologetics you have learned through Ratio Christi into your future endeavors?

I plan to take my learned skills from RC into the future through where I am living right now. I am and RA in the dorms, and that is a window that is very wide to have conversations with more people than I will ever live with at any time in my future. As I go more into the future, it would be cool to encourage an apologetics study at my local church.

  • Would you consider coming back to work with your RC chapter, starting one at another school, or working with RC in any other capacity?

My intention is to be a band director, and it would be really interesting to see what a high school “chapter” of RC would look like to sponsor and support at the school where I work. I think that is a goal especially because high school was when I became interested in the apologetic ideas and defense of my faith.

  • What would you say to other students who might be considering getting involved in Ratio Christi, whether they be skeptics, seekers, or believers?

I would tell someone to just give this group a chance because you won’t actually know until you know. And I would encourage them to let me know if they had more questions!!
