What is Ratio Christi doing amid university shutdowns?

Ratio Christi is a campus apologetics-evangelism ministry that holds meetings with students, faculty, and staff. So, what is Ratio Christi doing now that meetings with students have been banned and universities have closed?

Moving Online

You may have noticed that the Ratio Christi blog, social media, and email communication channels have dried up a bit lately. We’re sorry for leaving you in the dark, but we’ve been hard at work prepping our independent chapter directors to handle the novel situation on college campuses.

In short, as soon as we heard that colleges were beginning to shut their doors to in-person meetings, we began preparing materials for our chapter directors to move online. Thankfully, we have been preparing online platforms for our chapters for several years. We quickly got information out to our team members about what online platforms are available for them to use and began training them on how to take their chapters online.

Early successes

As our teams begin to go online, we’re seeing a lot of creativity in how the chapters are meeting. Some have taken to digital book studies while others are watching films together and learning how to respond as thoughtful Christians. Evangelism is difficult when you can’t have a face-to-face meeting, but the Holy Spirit works in unique ways. Many of our chapters are reporting that many non-Christians are attending their digital meetings and hearing the Gospel! One chapter is now doubling their average attendance!

The outlook

We won’t sugar coat it: there are some difficult times ahead for our chapter directors. Many of them live on very little to conduct their mission work. We rely on the generosity of our donors to partner with us in this Kingdom mission. Consider reaching out to a missionary that you support and letting them know that you still support their ministry – even if it’s only by prayer.
