Kate has been an incredible member and leader of our Ratio Christi community at Buffalo State. Since she joined, one of her great strengths has been her curiosity and her willingness to ask any question that comes to mind. As she asks good questions, and seeks the truth, she has grown leaps and bounds in her life with Christ. Hear more about her experience in her own words:
I have always had a love and belief in God, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year of college in 2023 that I truly came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior. This transformation began through a friend who introduced me to Ratio Christi. Through that introduction, I was able to fully immerse myself in the Christian life and discover the truth of the gospel in a way I never had before. My interest in apologetics grew naturally from my involvement with Ratio Christi. It all started with an invitation from my friend Chris to dinner, which unexpectedly led me to a weekly Ratio Christi gathering on campus. That first evening sparked something in me, and over time, I found myself becoming more engaged and desiring to serve. Eventually, I stepped into leadership and had the privilege of becoming president of our chapter.
At Buffalo State University, our Ratio Christi chapter is more than just a campus group—it is a family. We build a strong sense of trust and support among one another. Everyone is always willing to help, and our shared goal is to spread the gospel and help our peers gain a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a Christian. Our relationships are marked by both love and laughter, creating a welcoming and nurturing environment for growth.
One of my favorite parts of being involved with our chapter was tabling each week. We would pose questions related to biblical topics or general philosophical ideas, all aimed at sparking deep, meaningful conversations with fellow students. These interactions were often unpredictable, but they became some of the most effective and rewarding learning experiences I had. They not only challenged others to think critically but also strengthened my own understanding and ability to defend the faith. Receiving the Legatus Christi award holds deep significance for me. It stands as a symbol of God’s transformative work in my life. I was not raised in a Christian household, but when I encountered God, I could not turn away. I am deeply grateful for the Ratio Christi chapter and every person involved who supported me and helped me grow in my faith throughout college. Ultimately, though, it is only by God’s grace that I can now boldly acknowledge the truth of the gospel.
Looking ahead, I would gladly consider returning to work with my chapter. There’s a unique joy in witnessing hearts open to the truth, and it would be a great honor to help others understand and embrace the Christian faith as part of my life’s work. To any student considering getting involved in Ratio Christi—whether you’re a skeptic, a seeker, or a believer—I would encourage you to keep an open heart. While having an open mind is important, real acceptance of truth happens in the heart. The journey won’t always be comfortable. There will be resistance when we speak boldly about our faith, but if we stand in God’s light and seek to glorify Him, He will always provide the strength and wisdom we need.
